WATCH!! “IT IS MY HONOR TO BE IMPRISONED FOR WHAT I AM FIGHTING FOR” DE LIMA SAID.
Senator Leila de Lima, the fiercest critic of Pres. Duterte said “Karangalan ko po na ako ay makulong dahil sa mga pinaglalaban ko po” as she stepped out of her office in the senate this Morning, February 24, 2017, to face arrest over charges filed against her by DOJ.
A Muntinlupa judge on Thursday, February 23, 2017, issued a warrant for De Lima’s arrest in connection with one of three drug cases filed against the senator. Violation of R.A. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, specifically sale and trading of illegal drugs, criminal liability of government officials and employees. But the senator begged to PNP-CIDG to allow her to be with her family first which they’ve both agreed and arrest her Friday Morning instead.
She voluntarily surrendered herself to PNP-CIDG, the arresting team that will bring her in Camp Crame where she will be detained.
“Inosente po ako. Wala pong katotohanan na protector ako ng illegal drugs. Hindi po totoo na nakinabang ako sa illegal drugs. Pawang kasinungalingan po ang ibinibentang nila sa akin. Kung sasabihin po nila na mapapatahimik po nila ako sa paraan ng pangigipit o paniniil, nagkakamali po sila. Karangalan ko po na ako ay makulong dahil sa mga ipinaglalaban ko,” De Lima stated.
Senate President Aquilino Pimentel III said that de Lima can still function as senator being elected by the people and she is still entitled to keep her office in the Senate and is still recognized as an official member of the upper chamber.
